This piece is called ‘Trip’. It’s one of the first photography pieces that I have ever done. I tried to relay the idea that this piece is about supporting yourself. I do want to leave a lot of the interpretation up to the imagination, but I want to point out that my intention with having the hand coming out of the mirror, was to say that it can be a supportive hand from whoever you feel you need support from. This is also why I decided to leave the hand in the newspaper, in paper mâché form. In a way, it acts as a green screen saying “insert hand here.” For me, that supportive hand was myself—that’s why I decided to put it through a mirror. However, this can really be completely up to the individual.
